Jacob Watriena, who claims the kingship of the Loyalty Islands, in an interview with the Federal Ministers, stated that the islanders desired to place the group under the control of the Commonwealth. If it was not taken over by Australia, it would soon be in the possession of the Japanese. About six thousand Japs and many soldiers and spies are working in the nickel mines. The Ministers promised that the Cabinet would give consideration to the matter.
