A SERIOUS CHARGE. By Telegraph—Press. Association. Carterton, Saturday. Albert John Udy was arrested this morning on a charge of destroying a sixroomed house at Waihakeke on November 5 by the explosion of gelatine. He was remanded till Friday next. Bail was allowed, himself £IOO, and one surety of £2OO. BOOKMAKERS ARRESTED. Christehurch, Saturday. The police raided bookmakers' offices this morning, and W. Whitta and eleven other men were arrested for violation of the Gaming Act. Bail was accepted. The cases arc to be heard on Monday.
