NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.

At Urenui on Monday, 28tli ult., I had a very heavy yarding, all available pens being well filled. A large number of springing heifers were yarded, but being late in the season and of second quality did not meet with demand, kcore cattle sold very readily, as also did empty heifers, the quality of which was very good. Prices obtained were as follows:—15-months heifers £2 10s to £3 14s Od, 15-months steers (small) £2 to £2 14s Od, 15-months mixed £2 10s to £2 14s, 2-year empty heifers (colored) £5 3s to £5 lis Od and £4 14s Od for a good well-done line of Shorthorns; 2-year steers' (bit of color) £3 19s to £4 Is- Od, 2%-ycar bullocks £5 to £5 15s, store cows (aged) £2 9s to £3 3s Od, good £3 lis to £4 ss, forward cows £4 10s to £5 5s od, fat cows £5 18s to . £6 17s, fat heifers £o ss, springing heifers £3 15s to £8 (according to quality), dairy cows £4 2s Od to £7 2s Od, bulls £2 5s to £O, mixed wethers and hoggets 10s, fat wethers (in wool) 19s, do. At Toko on the same day store cows realised from £3 5s to £3 15s, empty 2-year heifers £4 4s to £4 Bs, yearling steers- £2 9s to £3 Is, yearling heifers £2 10s to £3 Is, bulls' £4, fat cows £5 19s, hoggets 12s 7<l. At Stratford on Tuesday I had a good yarding of cattle, the majority being yearling to 15-months cattte. For tho I better class of these I had a good demand. Two very nice pens of wellgrown 15-month Holstcin heifers, on ac«ount of Mr. J. Chamberlain, realised. £5 2s Od and £4 18s 6d, and a choice line of Jerseys penned by Messrs Ransford Bros., Tariki, realised £O. Other prices were: Yearling, to 15-month heifers £2 15s Od to £2 19s Od and £3 4s to £3 .lis for best, 15-month steers £2 19s to £3 8s - Od, small £2 5s Od to £2 8s Od, yearling bulls £1 103 to £2 15s, Shorthorn dairy bull £7 10s, empty 2-year colored heifers £5 4s to £5 10s, grades £4 4s to £4 '\ 103 6d, store cows (good) £3 15s to

£4 10s 6d, forward cows £4 18s to £5 2s 6d, fat cows £5 18s to £6 0s 6d, aged and poor cows £1 16s to £3. In the dairy pens there was a. very large entry of cows and heifers, with a good attendance and demand for quality cattle. Best heifers brought up-to £9 and cows up to £ll.

At the Stony River yards on Wednes- j day, 30th, there was an extra heavy | yarding of all classes, and a very repre- j sentative attendance of buyers from all parts of the district. At my monthly sale at Kaponga' on Friday, Ist hist., there was a good entry of store cattle and a fair lot of dairy heifers. Stores sold very briskly, but 1 had poor enquiry for dairy stock. Prices realised were:—Empty 2-year heifers £4 to £4 10s, yearling to 15-month steers £2 lGs Od to £3 Gs 6d; store cows £3 8s 'Gd to £4 Bs, forward c'ows £4 10s to £5, bulls £2 Is to £5, dairy cows £6 5s to £9, springing heifers , £6 ss, fat wethers £1 Is. ■ On Tuesday at Rahotu there was a good entry, with a large attendance of the public. MATTHEWS, BEXNETTT &-CO.'S REPORT. Matthewsj Bennett and Co. report a crowded yarding and a good attendance on Wednesday, in spite of the wet weather. They held a bull fair in coni junction with their ordinary weekly sale and did fain business, selling most of the stock entered at the hammer. Prices as follows:—Springing heifers £6 10s to £7 15s', small £4 to £5 ss, dairy cow 3 £6 Gs to £7 15s, old and unsound £2 15s to £3 10s, store cows £3.12s Gd to £4 7s Gd, inferior £2 10s to £3 as, culls £1 to £1 10s, fat £6 ss, 15-months heifers £3 10s, yearling steers £2 18s to £3 4s, heifers £2 15s to.. £3 3s, 2 to 2y a -year steers £3 16s to £4 10s, bulls (for dairy purposes) £5 5s to £B. others £2 5s to £3 7s Gd, culls 15s to £1 ss.

WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. , Poultry.—At the mart on Saturday our jens were taxed to the utmost with birds of all classes. Prices obtained showed an advance on the previous week. We have an unsatisfied demand for turkeys and fat cockerels. Prices as under:— Hens (old) 2s 5d to 2s Bd, young 2a 7d to 3s 6d, pullets (young) 2s to 2s 6d, forward 2s !)d to 3s 9d, cockerels (young) 2s 3d to 2s Bd, fat 2s 7d to 3s 4d, ducks 2s 6d to 3s, ducklings 7d to lOd, drakes 2s 7d to 2s 9d, chicks 7 ] /od to lOd, turkey gobbler 15s, geese 3s ad, goslings Is Gil each. The usual line of auction sundries realised satisfactory prices. Fi nit—During the week there has not been much offering, consequently good prices have been obtained as under:— Bananas (ripe) 3d lb, orange (re-packs) 17s Od, apples (prime colored American dessert) 15s Gd to 16s 6d, lemons 7s Cd to 9s, new potatoes 3d to 4d lb. Oakura yards—On Friday we held our nsual fortnightly sale at our Oakura yards, when there was a good yarding, and practically every pen sold' at the hammer. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. and Reduced (Stratford branch) report as follows: On Saturday, 20th ult., we held our usual Saturday heifer sale, when there was a good yarding of choice heifers. Prices as compared with the former rates were alighlly less. Heifers showing close to profit brought from 130s to 170s, heifers and cow-i in low condition and backward 100s to 130s, JerseyHolsl.eiu heifers showing well done 140s to 185s, Shorthorn heifers close to profit 120s to 170s, thin and backward heifers 80s to 110s; dairy cows of Holstcin eross were keenly competed for at from 130s to 200s.

On Friday, Ist inst., we held our usual monthly sale in our Te Wcra saleyards, when there was a large yarding, all the advertised cattle coming forward.. Prices wore as follows:—Mixed yearlings, small and in low condition, brought from 47s Od to 52s Od, mixed yearlings of good quality 55s to G3s, yearling to 15-months steers 55s to 00s (for good, well-grown cattle), 18-months steers 07s (Id to 765, yearling to 15-months heifers 55s to 70s (for nice clean lines of mixed heifers), yearling bulls 50s to 07s od, 2-year bulls 3gns to 4%gns, 2-year empty heifers 80s to 975, springing heifers 115s to 152s Od, dairy cows in milk 142s to 180s. On Tuesday, sth inst., we held our usual fortnightly combined sale in our Stratford yards,'when there was a large yarding of 800 head of mixed cattle and 00 purebred Romney ewes. There was a large attendance of buyers. Competition waa very keen for store cows,, and the demand for this class of stock at present is very good. We also held a dairy sale, when we I disposed of about 30 springing heifen - and 10 dairy cows. Prices realised , were: Holsteins heifers (in good condition, close to profit and in profit) 140s to 200s, ordinary Shorthorn heifers 95s to 100s, dairy cows (ordinary sorts) 105s ! to 160s.
