"Couljd you oblige me with a penny etamp?" haß been a question frequently put in Auckland of late to Queen street, pedestrians by an elderly, poorly-dressed man. Recently, however. the bar-tenders in various hotels in, the city have become suspicious of an old man who lias succeeded in obtaining liquor by means of stamps. "It is aH I have," he truthfully says, 'as he puts down three or six penny "stamps in payment for a drink.
