PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
A WELCOME TO DR. WILSON. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. London, November 7. Mr. Acland, M.P., at a Liberal meeting at Taunton, said that Dr. Wilson's election was a victory for the reduction of tariffs. A message of God-speed might well go to the new President in his task of reducing the tariff and bringing the trusts into a proper position. Short of revolution it was almost impossible to disestablish the trusts, and the only thing to do was.to keep clear of theni from the beginning. . DEMOCRATS CONTROL SENATE. • Received 8, 11 p.m. Washington, November 8. The Democrats are practically assured of the control of the Senate. Allowing for all doubtful States, the Republicans and Democrats' count is exactly half, •with a Democratic Vice-President, thus giving the Democrats the casting vote.
