THE NEW DIAMOND. Received 7, 11.30 p.m. Johannesburg, November 7. The new diamond is inferior in quality and its value is speculative. FATAL GAS FUMES FROM ENGINE Received 7, 9.10 p.m. Quebec. November 7. The gas passing from the fumes of a train overcame fifteen workmen in a tunnel on the Northern Pacific railway road. The train crew rescued several oi them, but were overcome themselves. Finally all were carried to the open air. One is dead. A STEAMER AGROUND. Received 7, 9.10 p.m. Quebec, November 7. The steamer Royal George grounded in the St. Lawrence River in a fog. Nine hundred are aboard. The situation is serious. Received 7, 11.30 p.m. Quebec, November 7. Assistance has been sent to the Royal George passengers. It is believed they are safe. C There was no panic. 'FRISCO EXHIBITION. Received 8, 1 a.m. Melbourne, November 7. It was stated in the House of Representatives that New *South Wales. Victoria and Tasmania had not replied to the invitation to participate in the representation of Australian products at the San Francisco Exhibition in 1915. South. Australia and Westralia were against the proposal, whilst Queensland favours it, and suggests a combined Commonwealth exhibit. The Federal Government has not yet come to a decision on the matter.
