FIGHTING LAND TAXES.

GREAT AUTUMN CAMPAIGN TO BE UNDERTAKEN. London, September 13. A great anti-tax-the-land campaign is being prepared by the Land Union in case Mr. Lloyd George should finally throw in his lot with Mr. Outhwaite and the other Georgians. i It is felt by the Land Union that no | responsible Cabinet Minister who had not taken leave of his senses could possibly embrace the single-tax policy, but at the same time it is well to be prepared. If Mr. Lloyd George by any chance should decide' to send ambassadors round the country preaching the single-tax policy, then the Land Union will send out its speakers in his track. If the single-tax campaign is set going, then speakers will be sent to all parts of the country to explain the injurious nature of such taxes to the working classes. In addition, lecturers will be sent to provincial towns, and classes will be formed for those anxious to learn from those who have studied the question. Literature dealing with all points will be spread broadcast. It is expected that Mr. Lloyd George will make some statement with regard to the land in his forthcoming speech in Scotland next month, and if any campaign is started, the autumn will be the time. As for Mr. Outhwaite, the Land Union considers that his utterances do not matter, and without the full backing of Mr. Lloyd George are of no consequence whatsoever. Already, apart from what the Chancellor may say, great autumn meetings have been arranged by the Land Union to take place in the north of England. The chief danger in connection with a single-tax campaign is the fact that the majority of people do not own land, and are therefore indifferent. It will' be the object of the Land Union to educate the working classes bv showing how, although they may nut own land, their interests are vitally wrapped up in the land.
