MITCHINSON'S GARDENS.

LAST EVENING'S SALE. The allotments in the above estate were submitted to auction last night, and despite the unfavourable weather conditions there was a good attendance. Possibly the 'humidity of the atmosphere may have had a dispiriting tendency, as the expectations of brisk competition were not realised. Mr. L. A. Nolan weilded the hammer and four sections were disposed of. Lots 31 and' 32 were purchased by Mr. G. Jarvis (Hawera) at £275 and £6O respectively. Lot 33 by Mr. W. H. Hawkins (New Plymouth) at £BO, and lot 34 by Mr. R. Ching (of New Plymouth) at £144, There were numerous enquiries after the sale, and it i* likely that the majority of the sections will be disposed of during the week, for which period the owners have decided to allow the remaining sections to be taken up at what must be considered a very low upset. The hunger for land in town' sections at all events cannot be very great in Taranaki, otherwise these sections would have all sold under the hammer.
