THE DUNEDIN TRAGEDY.
INQUEST „ON THE VICTIMS. ■ By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. An inquest was held this afternoon on the bodies of Annie Reid, who has been masquerading as "Thos. Parker," and her child, both of whom died yesterday. Dr. Gordon Mac Donald said there was a slight mark of constriction round the neek of the child, such as might be caused by the umbilical cord. He came to the conclusion that the child had been born alive and died from neglect. The Coroner returned a verdict to this effect. At the inquest on the body of the mother, Dr. Fleming stated that she was suffering from peurperal eclampsia. Deceased would probably not have survived her confinement, no matter what treatment she received, as she had been suffering from Bright's disease, which left a tendency to puerperal eclampsia at child birth. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned.
