Now that the Horticultural Society
las put off its Hose Exhibition to the 14th of, November, there should be a Jigger entry than ever this year. Several professionals are going to send exhibits, and with the usual showing of amateurs the Show this year should be a great success. It is hoped that New Plymouth people will do what they can by entry and by membership, and help also to ' swell the crowd that makes its way to the Brougham street hall on Thursday, • Slow is to be held. Entries close on Tuesday next with the secretary, Mr. Alf. Snowball, at Brougham street. To-day is the great day of the Great ■ Auction Sale at Messrs. Nolan and Co.'s. Mart, when to-night at 8 o'clock, the estate known as Mitchinson's Gardens (which has been cut up into 34 sections, all beautifully laid out, the streets metalled, the paths curbed and channelled) will be sold by auction. A big demand • should indicate an interesting sale, and we would gdvise all intending builders and speculators to be on time, eight p.m. at the Mart of Nolan and Co. A letter from Mr. Alf. Skeates, jeweller, of Auckland, reads thus: —Six weeks will bring Christmas with all its special trade, and so as to afford a quite opportunity of purchasing presents, I have sent a number of new lines to the New Plymouth branch for public inspection.
