FIRES.
AUCKLAND HOUSE BURNED.

Auckland, Monday.
A house in Belmont Terrace, Remuera, owned by Mrs. Whitcombe and occupied by W. P. Morgan, was destroyed by fire on Saturday night. A carpenter named Ross, in assisting in the attempt to extinguish the flames, was badly burned and removed to the hospital. The heat was so intense that the firemen worked wrapped in wet hlankets. The building was insured for £2OO in the South British Office. The contents, which were valued at £2OO, were a total loss.
