FOOTBALL.
COLONIALS IN ENGLAND.
There will be a fair leavening of footballers from this side of the world in the English Northern Union Club this season, and, on the other hand, there will be some notable absentees. Huddersfield, the crack club of last season, will again contain Albert Rosenheld, the brilliant ex-Eastern Suburbs five-eighths; and E. T. Gleeson will arrive after the season has advanced somewhat. E. Wrigley, the dashing New Zealander, will also wear their colors. The name of C. A. Byrne, the big forward, who represented tlie Dominion, and afterwards North Sydney, also figures in the list of players, but there is a possibility that he will return to Australia. W. Trevarthen, late of A. H. Baskervillc's side, has not yet signed on, but he will probably be one the side once more.
Hull lias lost J. Deveraux and Schofield. The latter has returned to New Zealand. However, these losses are more than compensated for by the inclusion of IT. (iilbcrt and S. Darmody.
Oldham management are faced with difficulties owing to internal dissension,
but the team will be strong. George Smith, Die veteran Aucklander, who was one of the star backs of the New Zealand team which visited Australia fifteen years ago, will coach the side as well as play. .A. E. Anleznrk, the ex-Bathurgfc half-back, will reappear, though at the end of last season he,announced his retirement. D. Farnsworth is the most noted acquisition, and S. Deane the greatest defection.
Leeds supporters were looking forward to the arrival of J. D. Campbell, and Tin-till, the full-back of the professional "AH Blacks" will occupy the same position for St. Helen's. Warrington has A. Renwcik, of Auckland, within its ranks. D. Frawley's name still figures on the transfer list of this club.
A. R. Francis, C. Seeling, L. P. Williams and L. Todd, four New Zealanders, will wear the colors of Wigan, and F. E. Bowen, a three-quarter who played.with the Alhambra Club, Dunedin, hap been secured by Bradford Northern. W. 6. Ferton, a forward in the Batley team, is classed as an Australian, but he must have hidden his light under a bushel when in this part of the world.
