SUMMARY AND FORECAST.

The following weather summary and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Department at 5 p.m.:—Warm and cloudy weather lias prevailed, and rain has fallen in parts of the South Island, with strong northerly and westerly winds and gales in parts. The barometer has fallen everywhere. Present indications are for northerly 'and westerly winds, strong to a gale, veering to southerly for a short time goon in southern districts. Cloudy, unsettled and colder weather, with rain, is probable generally. The barometer will probably rise for a short time in the south, but fall further in the north.
