SLY-GROG CASE.

tEXIEXCY REFUSED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. William Savage was convicted.at the Magistrate's Court to-day, and fined £25 for sly-grog selling. He pleaded guilty, and Mr. 11. F. O'Learv, who appeared for him, asked that-in fixing the puuishment His Worship would take into consideration the fact that the accused was a married man and had never been t in a court of criminal jurisdiction before. Dr. McArthur, S.M., said that the defendant must have known quite well what he was doing. Such people were continually coming before the Court, and he could not see fit to impose a light penalty.
