WELLINGTON BOUTS.

Wellington, Yesterday. The Wellington Boxing Association's tournament was concluded in the Town Hall last evening. The chief bout was the final in the elimination series, be-, tween Frank Ellis, of Wellington, and? T. Thompson, of Southland. Ellis won all the way, and gave his adversary a good deal of punishment. Thompson, however, accepted this with the utmost gaineness, but in the tenth round his corner threw in the towel. So Ellis has fought his way to the right to meet Hegarty for the Dominion feather-weight championship. J. Murphy (10st 91bs) and D. Ryder (lOst 51b) fought four rounds, which were all Murphy's. The proceedings were opened by an almost farcical encounter between L. M. Robinson (Bst 121b), of Gisborne, and B. Welsh (Bst 121b), of Wellington. The, encounter went the ten rounds wlhich it was billed to run, during which period Welsh landed twice —on Robinson's back in the sixth round. Except taking occasional lefts from Robinson, Welsh did little else than beat the air. Robinson was unable to use his right hand during J the bout on account of it having been injured. Nevertheless he won easily.
