CONQUERING FLEAS!

An Italian working on the line near ■Marseilles found that his rest was being .disturbed bv fleas of exceptional energy and vitality. He had tried all the ordinary powders in vain. Dynamite, he thought, might dislodge his enemies, so he procured a couple of cartridges, and proceeded to a thorough fumigation of his bed. Unfortunately he had forgotten to remove the detonators, and his experiment resulted in two violent explosions. The house was almost ■wrecked, and the Italian, terribly burned, wis taken to the nearest hospital. The fleas are probably unhurt.
