A BUTCHER WOUNDED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Berlin, October 24. A crowd looted a large butcher's shop in Scherer Strasse and wounded the manager before the police dispersed them. A SENSATIONAL EIRE. New York, October 24. At Chicago a fire broke out in the Morrison and Veley Hotels, which adjoin each other. Five hundred hotel guests lied for their lives. Numbers were rescued, screaming, in the firemen's arms. Mr. Ad. Wolgast, the wellknown pugilist, and Mrs. Wolgast, were nearly caught in the flames. The hotel annexe was gutted. A GOLD FRAUD. Johannesburg, October 24. The police have discovered a method by -which unwrought gold is stolen from mining companies and smuggled to England and the Continent in the guise of electro process blocks. The trade reached £1,000,000 a year. A woman was the prime mover in the fraud.
A MYSTERIOUS SUICIDE. St. Petersburg, October 24. Admiral Chagin, Commander of the Czar's,yacht, has committed suicide by shooting himself. THE MARLBOROUGH. London, October 24. The Marlborough has been launched. After the launching of the vessel some tackling fell and injured Commander Winthrop on the head, and he was removed to the hospital.
