THE FEDERAL HOUSE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyrigkt. Melbourne, October 25. Mr. Fisher asked for an appropriation of £5,000,000 for the old age pensions trust fund. After discussion the amount was reduced to £3,000,000, and the Bill passed through committee. A Bill to provide compensation in case of accident or death to workmen in the Commonwealth's employ has been introduced. The maximum'payment in case of death is fixed at £SOO. THE SYDNEY BEAR-PIT. . - Sydney, October 25. In the Assembly Mr. Fitzpatrick and the Speaker were again in conflict. The member evaded removal by walking out, and returned and voted in a division. The Speaker noticed his presence, and ordered him to be removed. Mr. Fitzpatrick claimed that the bar was down, and an angry wrangle ended in the Speaker sending for the police. Mr. Fitzpatrick was removed, protesting loudly that the Speaker was manipulat" ing the Government majority. After the Premier had replied on Mr. Wood's censure motion, a short debate followed, the closure was applied, and the motion negatived by 41 votes to 37.
A BRAWL IN THE SENATE. Melbourne, October 25. There was a scene in the Senate. An interjection by Mr. Chataway roused Mr. Givens, who rushed forward in a fighting attitude. Members intervened and forcibly prevented him striking Mr. Chataway. There was an unseemlv wrestle, and Mr. Givens was hustled to his seat.
