ENTERTAINMENTS.

PLI.MMER-DEKXISTON SEASON. BOX PLAN'S OPEN TO-DAY. The box plans for the forthcoming I'limmer-Denniston season which commences at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday next, will open at Collier's at !) o'clock this morning. Speaking of th« opening play, "Nobody's Daughter." the Sydney Sun remarked:—"The merits of the production of 'Nobody's Daughter' by the Hamilton, Plimmer and Denniston Company, at the Palace Theatre, on Saturday night, was reminiscent of the best days of the famous Brough and Boucciault Company. The play is a good one, for it is intensely human, and extremely interesting. No one can fail to be gripped by the eurious situation which the author presents in the opening scene, and it is impossible to help admiring the skilful and delicate manner in which the author, George l'aston, lias handled a somewhat dangerous theme. The, play illustrates the possibility of turning unsavory instances of human frailty to good account, and the optimistic spirit that pervades it is in splendid contrast to the morbid manner in which 'problem' subjects are generally treated. 'Nobody's Daughter' deserves to succeed, for it is a heart-to-heart play, admirably presented." The company is a particularly powerful one, and includes Mr. George S. Titheradge. Harry Plimmer, Mrs. Robert Brough, Beatrice Day and Lizette Parkes. The second and last night of the season, Thursday, will be devoted to Oscar Wilde's brilliant comedy, "A Woman of No Importance." This is one of the most moving, emotional and at the same time brilliantly humoroui plays ever written.

EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. The chief picture on the new programme to be shown for the first tim* at the matinee to-day is a 2000 feet dramatic study entitled "Love's Revenge," a picture that is said to piny upon the full gamut of human emotions. "The Spider's Web" is a Vitagraph pourtraval, a warning to the unwary, and those 'who would get rich quick. Luliin players are included in it drama, "The Social Secretary," and a highly humorous comedy. "The Tin Can Rattle." The latest, C.aumont Gazett* includes nruok that is interesting in the shape of recent notable events, and the eomics and aceniw aro all highly entertaining.
