THE N.Z. CADETS.

TO VISIT NEW PLYMOUTH. The New Zealand Cadets who have just returned from a very successful trip to Canada, will pay a visit to Taranaki next week. They will be billeted in Stratford and remain there a few days, visiting other centres from that base. Notification was received in New Plymouth yesterday afternoon that the Cadets to the number of 25 and the officer in charge would arrive here by the 10.45 a.m. train on Wednesday next, and depart by the 4.20 p.m. train. Owing to the shortness of the notice it was impossible to call a pubile meeting to discuss the entertainment, but at a representative gathering last night the following detailed arrangements were made:—The Cadets will be met on arrival at the train by the reception committee and the Mayor, then taken to St. Mary's Church and Maryland Hill. From there to the Recreation Grounds, where at noon they will be accorded a civic reception by His Worship the Mayor and if possible arrangements will be made for the visitors to give a display. In order to give local people an opportunity of seeing the Cadets, it has been decided to make no charge for admission. The High School Cadets. No. 1 Battalion of Junior Cadet* and Boy Scouts will be invited to be present in uniform. Owing to the unsuitable hour it is not intended to have a parade of the Territorials, Senior Cadets or Garrison Band. At 1 p.m. liuiclk'on will be arranged, and at 2 p.m. a visit will be paiil to the oil wells. At U p.m. at the invitation of Mr. Moves, principal of the High School, they will be taken to the High School for afternoon tea. afterwards leaving by the 4.20 p.m. train for Stratford. Dr. Leathnm has very kindly placed his motor car at the disposal of' the committee, and it is expected that other public spirited citizens will do likewise. As certain expenses will be incurred ill entertaining the Cadets, a committee consisting of \lcsm v . Southam. and Buxton have been appointed to colluct funds.
