MONSTROUS ATROCITIES.

CAMBRIDGE PROFESSOR'S REVELATIONS. London, October 13. Tn a letter to the press Mr. Edward Granville Browne, the Sir Thomas Adams Professor of Arabic at Cambridge University, has made some startling revelations of the hideous torture practised by Shujand Dewla, Governor of Tabriz, Persia. This Persian potentate, declares Professor Browne, is simply a monster. He hangs, stabs and cuts men in two just as if they were so many sheep. Other victims are treated with even more fiendish cruelty. They have their tongues cut out and their eyes plucked out, after which horseshoes are nailed to their feet. The wretched creatures are then driven through the streets and finally beaten to death. The Governor's method of dealing with all those .who are suspected of sharing liberal principles is to sew up their mouths.
