THE WAIHI STRIKE.
MORE FOLLOWING-UP CASES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Waihi, Saturday. Nineteen men are now in custody as the result of the cases since Tuesday, for failing or refnsing to fed sureties. Chas. Opie, Chas. Gardiner, Edward Armstrong and David McGinnity are being charged ito-day with offensive following-up. The cases are all being heard together, and ore likely to continue till the afternoon. The evidence is mostly in the direction of that given in the former cases.
CHARGES DISMISSED. Waihi, Saturday. The charges against McGinnity and Armstrong were dismissed, while Chas. Opie and Chas. Gardiner were ordered to find sureties of £SO each and another of £SO to keep the peace for twelve months. Both elected to go to gaol, as also did Matthew Kuluz, charged with using insulting language. OUTSIDE THE GAOL. BIG DEMONSTRATION ANTICIPATED. Waihi, Saturday. Since the imprisonment of the men who declined to offer the Magistrate their word that their offence would not be repeated and of those declining to find sureties, the street opposite the gaol has been continually the scene of a gathering of men and women. To-night an assemblage are waiting, in doubt as to when the men will be removed. It is understood thaifc the prisoners will be sent to Auckland by special train tonight. A big demonstration is anticipated when the men leave the gaol tonight.
