Mr. Robinson, of the New Zealand Higl Commissioner's Office, giving evidence before the Empire Commission, emphasiseo that in selecting emigrants precaution were taken to safeguard females on th voyage. He explained the arrangement for receiving and housing them, and cor reeted the misstatement of a previou witness in this respect. He stated that BUgar could be more successfully growr by whites than by kanakas.
