BAPTIST CONFERENCE.
SITTING IN CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Baptist Conference met this morn* ing, when matters connected with foreign missions were dealt with. The report o! the treasurer stated that while the year opened with a debit of £358, this had all been wiped off, the year closing with a credit balance of £IOB, the receipts being £3102 18s lid, and the expenditure £2004 13s Od. A sum of £lßl 14s fid was forwarded to the Baptist Church of Russia, to help in building a church p St. Petersburg. The report was adopted. The general organisers' report made special mention of the splendid work done by the Baptist Women's Missionary Union. The report was adopted. The Baptist Women's Missionary Union' report stated that over six hundred garments had been sent to India during the year, and £417 had been raised for the mission work. The report was adopted. The following officers of the Missionary Union were elected: Secretary, Rev. J. K» Archer; treasurer, Mr. A. Hoby; auditors, Messrs. C. Godber, sen., and T. Wil-. son; missionary preacher, Rev. H. B. Hughes, M.A.; deputy-preacher, Rev. D. S. Mason. At the afternoon session the Rev. Mr. Archer moved, on behalf of the Missionary Committee, and the Re*. A. North seconded: "That an aggregate sum of £l'2o be added to the salaries of workers in India, in order to bring them up to those paid by the British Mission: ary Society." The motion was carried unanimously.
