Mr. Will Thome, giving evidence at the Imperial Commission on Trade, said that the Industrial Council would not accept compulsory arbitration at any price. If the arbitrators decided in the men's favor, there was nothing to prevent employers from shutting down the factories. ' EMPIRE, TRADE MARKET. London. October 10. At a meetiilg in the House of Lords, Lord Aveburv presiding, it was resolved to ask the Empire Trade Commission to receive a deputation in support of an Empire trade market. Sir George Reid, Mr. Thos. Mackenzie, and the Agents-General were present. SEDGWICK'S SCHEME. Received 17, 10.5 p.m. London, October 17. Before the Dominions Commission Mr. Sedgwick detailed the favorable despatch of liovs to New Zealand.
