GOVERNMENT PURCHASES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Inspector J. D. Ritchie states that, the Government has. concluded arrangements for the purchase and in March of the following Hawke's Bay freeholds: Ngaroto, from H. Hartree, 10,000 acres, and adjoining property; Waihau. from Mcßae Peacock, 6000 acres in the Pukctapu riding; Sheridan, from, , Mr. Lethbridge, 8300 acres, and adjoining , property; Tunanui, 2000 acres, from Mr. Hoadley in the Okawa riding. The land, . is classed as pastoral. It is not expected that it will be suitable for dairying purposes. Ngaroto and Waihau are described as well-watered. Sheridan and Tunanui are not so well supplied with running streams, and dams will probably be re- . quired. The prices are not yet disclosed for publication. ' ■ ■
