MEETING OF TIIE UNION. . EXECUTIVE ADVISE MEN TO GO ON WORKING. The ITunUy correspondent of the Auckland Herald telephoned on Monday night: The mine miiiiiijrev last evening handed notices of dismissal to members of the executive of the Waikato Miners' Union. The name*.of the executive are: F. 11. Marshall (president), J. E. Duncan (secretary)., J. Fulton, 0. Allen, C. v Watson, W. George, 11. lirundy, W. Bullough, F. Knapper.
Upon hearing the nsw.s the executive, immediately called a mass meeting of miners, and this was attended by some three hundred men. Each of 'tflie <lis-, missed officers, in addressing the meeting, urged the men to resume.work and await the decision of the Federation of Labor in the matter.
The president said the question was a most serious one, but it-was-the wish of the executive that the men should go back to work next morning.
It was realised by the meeting that this should be done. Accordingly the men will go underground again, awaiting in the meantime the advise of the Federation of Labor.
It is understood that prominent Federation officials will visit Huntly immediately and take charge of the men's affairs.
