AN EARTHQUAKE.
FELT ALL OVER THE NORTH ISLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. A heavy double shock of earthquake was experienced here at 3.34 this afternoon. No damage is reported. Palmerston North, Last Night. Two heavy shocks of earthquake occurred at 3.34 p.m. to-day. The shock* followed each other rapidly and the total disturbance lasted three minutes. Hastings, Last Night. Two very pronounced shocks of earthquake were felt here at 3.35 this afternoon causing considerable alarm "to people who happened to be indoors, i Wellington, Last Night. A severe earthquake was felt in Wellington at 3.30 this afternoon, followedimmediately by another of lesser severity.
Wanganui, Last Night. A rather severe earthquake shock was experienced here at. 3.35 this afternoon.
Napier, Last Night. A prolonged and somewhat sever& shock of earthquake was felt throughout this district at 3.34 this afternoon. No damage is reported. Gisborne, Last Night.
A long-sustained earthquake shock wns felt at 3.31 to-day, the direction being east to west.
A slight shock of earthquake was felt at New Plymouth at 3.35 o'clock jesterday afternoon.
