BAND CONTEST.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Duriediii,. October 15. At the band contest 'to-day the B flat cornet contest was won by •!. Annand, Kaikorai, with 98 points; H. Dickinson, St. Kilda, wss noxt with 07; W. H. Osborne, Timaru Garrison, 96; E. Schnack, Kaikorai, 05; S. Barnes, St. Kilda, 91. There were twenty-one other competitors. The judge said that there worn only five who anything about a solo. A garden party was to have been held this afternoon, but was postponed till Thursday afternoon on account of the heavy rain. The B fiat euphonium solo was taken this afternoon, and resulted as follows:—W. Pennycuiek (Dynedin) 1, W. Sullivan (Lyttelton Marine) 2, A. Martin (Stanmore) 3. ,In the evening the second selection in the B grade contest was taken, competitors making their own selection of music. The judge will give his decision in this event to-morrow night.
