In a speech he said that Canada and Australia were keenly interested in the maintenance of British power in the Pacific. It was not too much to hope that within a few years the Australian, and possibly the Australasian, fleet and the Canadian fleet would be ready to cooperate with the British fleet in any emergency arising, in order to maintain the British position in the Pacific.
