BAND CONTEST.
( By Telegraph—Press Association. Duncdin, Last Night. At the hand contest this afternoon the 1515 iiat 'bass solo was decided. Eesult: W. Fenton (Woolston) !)7 points, 1; T. Rodgers (Lytte'lton) and E. Frasor (Kalkorai), 9(i points, 2. Jn the evening the first test selection for the B grade bands was played, consisting of selections from "Maritaim." The following bands competed: Ashburton Municipal, Balelutha, Oavershain, l'nvercargill Hibernian, Blenheim, Ntaiimoro, Dominion (Invercargill), Ashburton Tem])ei'ancc, Timaru Marine. The own-choice selection will be played to-horrow night.
