' The English, Scottish, and Australian Bank shows a profit of £229,015. The interest paid on perpetual stock amounted to £90,041; £45,000 was added to the reserve fund and a dividend of 8 per cent declared; £14,385 was added to the cancellation of deposits fund, £SOOO to the officers' fund, and £32,443 carried forward.

The wheat and flour afloat amounts to 2,490,000 quarters, that of the Continent being 2.145,000 quarters; the Atlantic shipments total 501,000 quarters, the Pacific 750,000 quarters; the total Europe 109,000 quarters, Argentine 74,000, quarters, Russian 400,000 quarters, Danubian 213,000 quarters, India 170,000 quarters, and Australasia 36,000 quarters.

Large stocks 'of 'butter of second-class quality are in cold store; Danish 131s, Siberian 112s, Australian 115s, New Zealand (nominal) 1245. Cheese—The market is quiet; small business is doing; Canadian, white C4s 6d, coloured 65s (id. Hemp.—The market is firm at an advance and has excited good demand for all descriptions; spot New Zealand good fair grade £3l per ton, first grade £3O; fair current Manila £29 10s; Jan-uary-March New Zealand good fair £3l 10s, fair grade £3O 10s; fair current Manila £3O 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 26,000 bales. The stock of New Zealand hemp is 610 tons. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. and Reduced, have received the . following cablegram from their London house under date 10th hist.:-- i '

The'sales closed strong, 13(5.000 tales of. wool-being sold, of which 48,000 were taken-;for the Continent and 0000 for America; 7000 bales were held over. As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices are higher by about 5 per cent, to Vfa per cent, for merino, medium and inferior and coarse scoured crossbred; and' higher by about 10 per cent, for coarse, greasy crossbred.

; WOOL AND MEAT. Total 'net quantity available amounted to 147,000 bales, 6000 bales being sold to America, 80,000 bales for home consumption 48,000 bales for the Continent, 7000 bales being carried forward. All wool available was offered.
