FIRES.

BIG BLAZE AT OTAKI. r ' i By Telegraph—Press Association, , Otaki, Yesterday. There was a .big fire at Otaki yesterday, in which several buildings belonging to the Ilowberaley estate were burned. The fire began in J. Leveaay'a shop, and it is surmised was caused by a pie-heater, which gave trouble before. This shop, with bakery, Bilt's and Moore's store room, Lee Ob's Chinese shop, and an unoccupied house were d«stroyed. There is no water supply, and the bucket brigade did well to restrict the limits of the fire. The insurances are only small. Byron Brown lost £2OO worth of machinery in Bilt's store-room.

If your property is not insured, call at or ring up the United Insurance Company, Ltd., Devon street; telephone 198. Webster Bros., district agents. Insurance effected on the mo*t favorable terms.—Advt.
