THE TIXAKORI STATION. By Telegraph.—p re , g Association. ' Wellington, Last Night. Ine Governor to-day opened the new wireless station on the Tinakori Hills. He traced the development of the system, and laid stress upon its great "future. He said that undoubtedly the chief subject of research would be'in re«ard to the problem of controlling the direction of messages, by which they would be immune from outside interference. The new station was another link in the chain binding Australia closer to New Zealand, and both. Imperially speaking, to the Mother Land.
The Postmaster-Uener.il, in giving a number of details, said that the station would be open continuously. It had a minimum range of 300 miles by day and 600 miles by night. It had already, however, communicated with Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and Suva.
