THE MARCONI AGREEMENT.
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 13, 5.5 p.m. London, October 12. In the House of Commons there was a long debate on the Marconi Agreement. Critics contended that it contained no guarantee of efficiency. Sir Rufus Isaacs emphatically denied outside insinuations concerning the Government and himself in connection with the contract or shares.
Mr. IT. Samuel, Po-stmaster-GeneraJ, caieftoric.ally denied the rumors that certain members of the Government liad taken advantage of the knowledge that negotiations were proceeding to make heavy profits over Marconi shares. The House agreed to Mr. Samuel's motion to appoint a select committee to enquire into the agreement. The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail and Morning l'ost express entire confidence in the Government's integrity, and declare! that Sir llufus Isaacs and Mr. Samuel met the charges fully and explicitly.
