THE AMATEUR STATUS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Last Night. The annual meeting of delegates to the New Zealand Amateur Bowing Association was held on Saturday night. 'The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Hon. H. D. Bell; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. S. Biss and F. D. Kesteven; council, Messrs. E. E. Hammond, E. Innis, R. M. Isaacs, George .Lauehlan, R. W. MeVilly, B. A. Xorris, E-Widdop; secretary and treasurer' Mr. G. C. Faclie. ■ The secretary of the New Zealand Olympic Council wrote that at the last meeting of the council a resolution was passed that, with a view to establishing a permament New Zealand Olympic fund the governing bodies of all sports interested be recommended to contribute a nominal annual subscription, say of sixpence per club member, which sum could be collected as registration fee or otherwise. ■ It was decided to inform the Olvmpic Council that as members of the Association were not eligible to compete at Olympic Games Association they could not impose a levy, bould would 'be willing to make a donation to the fund as on previous occasions. An application from J. M. Jackson, Auckland, for reinstatement as an amateur, was refused. reference to the subject of the aniateuisSrrhny. which was touched on in the report, (lie following motion was carried: "That in the opinion of this meeting of delegates, the present rule giving the definition of an amateur should be amended to allow of New Zealand oarsmen competing in Australia and elsewhere, and that the Council go on collecting data with a view to bringing the matter before a special meeting of delegates in Wellington at the time of the championship regatta." The Wellington Association was granted permission to hold a regatta at Port Nicholson. An honorarium of 15 guineas wag voted to the retiring secretary.
