At the Hawera tracks before breakfast, on Tuesday morning, Goddard's Coronet—Couriere colt and Patronata (Patronus-Explosion) did pace work and sprinted home over the last four furlongs; Mendip (T. Fryer) and Lady Menschikoff (N, Goddard) galloped six furlongs together, the mare having a little the better of it; Sam Pan and Princess Flo did pace work, and ran home the last three furlongs together; Bercola (L. Nodder) arid the LupinLady of the Lake filly (Dr. Paget) went a couple of rounds at half pace, skipping along over the final two furlongs; and Galtee (Nodder) and Astor (T. Fryer) were associated in a threc-fur-long flutter on the outside of the course proper, and finished together. Grattan, Allure, St. Serf, Avaunce, Lethean, Opeke and others were confined to pace work, —Hawera Star.
