Mutton, tine 40s 9d, medium 34s 6d; beef, fine, 38s 9d, medium 33s 6d. Wheat.—The Balkans'' situation had small effect on the market. Holders were Arm and there was fair demand at full prices. The American visible supply is 53,016,000 quarters. Copper—American stock 63,066,0001b. Silver, 29% di per oz.
BRITISH AUSTRALIAN TRUST. London, October 9. The British Australian Trust has declared an interim dividend of 5 per cent.

At the wool sales competition was animated for all sorts. Prices were at the highest level of the series. f THE PRICE OF HEMP. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday.
The High Commissioner cables from London under date, October 9:—The hemp market has advanced. Reports from Manila indicate that shipments are likely to decrease from October-December. New Zealand good- fair' grade is quoted at £3l. fair grade £29 15s.
NOLAN'S AND CO.'S REPORT,
L. A. Nolan and Co.vreport for week ending Wednesday, October Oth: — • Poultry.—All birds met with a very brisk competition, prices being very .high throughout. There is a splendid demand for poultry at the present time, all persons having birds to dispose of would do well to take advantage of present prices. Last Saturday's prices were:—Hens 2s 9d to 3s Bd, roosters 2s 4d to 3s 6d, cockerels 3s to 3s 3d, ducks 2s 4d to 3s Gd, ducklings 7d to Is 7d, chickens Gd to Bd, brood ducklings 8s to 10s, brood chickens 7s Gd to 9s, trio Silver Wyandottes 9s Gd. A large quantity of furniture realised good prices. Fruit. —Very little now offering. Apples, American 16s to 18s, oranges (Island) 12s Gd to 13s Gd, bananas ripe 3d, per lb, asparagus 7s per dozen, rhubarb l%d per lb.
WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Poultry.—At the Mart on Saturday our pens were taxed to their utmost with birds of all classes. We have an unsatisfied d'emand for poultry, and anyone having any surplus stock would do well to market them now. Prices as under:—Bens (fat) Is lid to 2s Gd, young 2s lOd to 4s; cockerels, young,. 2s to 2s 3d; fat, 2s 4d to 4s Gd; pullets, voung 2s to 3s Id, forward 5s fid to fis 3d; ducks 2s Gd to 3s lid, drakes 2s Gd to 4s, chicks 6d to Is, ducklings is 2d.
The usual line of auction sundries real ised satisfactory rates.
Fruit. —During the week fruit has been in fair supply. Bananas (ripe) 3d per lb, oranges (repacks) 16s 6d to 17s Gd, upples (dessert) 10s to 13s Gd, passion fruit 8s Gd, lemons 7a 9d to 8s 9d.
