The track was excellent. The following are the details of the racing:— Shorts Handicap, of 500 sovs.; six furlongs.—Gigandra, 10.2 (A. Oli'ver), 1; Irishman, 8.9 (Connell), 2; Malt King, 9.1 (Barnett) 3. Twelve started, including Theodore '8.9, Peirene 8.4, and Erniengarde 7.7. Ermengarde, Popinjay and Blairgour were prominent until the bend, but Gigandra was handy through-' out, and won by a length, with a head between second and third. Time, lmin. losec. Clibborn Stakes, of 1000 sovs.; one J mile and a furlong'.—Aurifer, 1; Perdita, 2; Barambah, 3. Twelve started. Aurifer took the lead after three furlongs, and, leading by four lengths into the straight, won by six lengths, with a head between second and third. Emerson), DanauSjjCisco and Piastre took up the running. Passing the stand, Shuja, Ladies' Man;" Piastre and Cisco were showing the .way; followed by Blakeney, Danaus and "A'ngelique. At the ten furlong post the order was the same, except that Willow Green hfeid moved up and tl»o Aurofodina and Allured. Here Duke Foote .was fairly well up. A little further on Hartfell, Simla, Ocean Blue and Irish, E"gure<~£eil. Shuja continued in command past-the mile post, Blakeney, Piastre,- Ladies'- Man and Danaus being his nearest- attendants, followed by Allured, Cisco and Duke Foote. There was little alteration at the six-furlong post, where Buke Foote was lying sixth. Sh'uja'? was-still leading at the half-mile, where Blakeney dropped back to fifth place behind Duke Foote. Shuja led Piastre, Adagio and Duke Foote into the straight, but at' the distance Shuja faltered and Duke Foote made his run, followed by Piastre and Ladies' Man. Duke Foote, under the stick, went away, and giving nothing a chance won by four lengths, with. Ladies' Man a length away third, and Shuja fourth, followed by Artesian, Aurofodina, ' Eric, Lochano, Danaus, Cisco. The last to finish was Bronze. Vice-Admiral was never prominent. Time, 2min. 34y 2 3ec. First Steeplechase,-0f.300 sots.; about' two miles and a half.—United Kingdom (Carter), 1; Sir Lethe (R. Gray), 2;i Continuance (J. O'ConHell), 3. Eleven started,- including Hautapu. Kairoma and Sir Lethe made the pace throughput until the straight was readied, attended by United Kingdom, with Continuance well back, until coming down the hill the second time. ..Entering the straight United Kingdom' challenged Sir Lethe, and beat him home by four lengths. Squatters' Handicap, of 500 sovs.; one mile and a quarter.—Hallowmas, 6.12 (Bracken), 1; Zilper, 7.2 (Deeley), 2; Sunlike, 7.6 (Manning), 3. Fourteen started. Won by half a length. Time, 2min. 7y 3 see. HARTFELL. Received 7, 11.45 p.m. Sydney, October 7. When Hartfell fell in the Metropolitan Handicap he was badly knocked about, and possibly will not start for the remainder of the meeting. Pike, his jockey,, was badly cut about the head. ROYAL SCOTCH. Sydney, October 7. It is reported that £2OOO was paid for Royal Scotch, with an additional £IOOO in the eveitt of his winning the Caulfield Cup. Ireland was sold for £IOOO. .
