WELLINGTON NOTES.
A MAD BULL.
(By Telegraph.—Own. Correspondent). Wellington, Last Night. ''Mud bull!" The cry echoed and re- ' hoed along Featherston street on Saturday forenoon. People scattered to the right and to the left and darted into friendly doorways. The bull held on, tail in air, foaming at the mouth and ] bleeding at the nostrils. As if by a ; magic wand dogs sprang up by the dozen. Of course, they made for the bull, which accelerated his pace. He kept straight on towards the heart of the city. A boy on a bicycle, who was in the bull's way, was either pushed of! or fell. The people following the bull rushed to help the boy and picked him up and brushed him down. The bull continued on his way, a yelling pack, canine and human, at his heels, and also a man with a whip, who was more interested than anybody else in the capture, as the bull was in his charge. It had escaped from the railway station along with another bull, which was captured before it got Tery far. But the bull who had caused most of the bother held on until he came to the taxi-cabs at the Union Bank. There his attention was directed to the vacant section at the back of the bank, and seeing a gate open, he ran into a trap, as it were. The gate wa3 smartly closed and the bull, after charging a hand-cart, settled down as if glad to be at peace. On the door which shut on him was a large poster, reading, "The Catch of the Season!"
POLITICS DULL. Politically things are going along quietly, and the indications are that members will be back in their homes before the «nd of this month. This week will be fairly busy. In all probability the reports on the tapis, the Totaija Timber' Co.'s petition and the petition of McLean and Sons (contractors for the Otifa tunnel) will be presented, and theTe is a possibility of the Public Works.
