AN ASSAULT CASK. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Xight. In the Police Court to-day Frank Crumlish was charged that on October 4, on the Main Trunk express between Auckland and Wellington, ho assaulted Victor Smith. The. evidence was that four seamen left Auckland on Thursday night under engagement to join the barque Titania at Dunedin. At Waiouru another man joined the train with a bottle of whisky. A quarrel eventually took place, and" it was contended that Crumlish and Smith had a scuffle, in the course of which the former bit Smith's ear. Accused admitted the facts, •with the exception of the biting, which he denied. Accused was convicted and' sentenced to one month's Imprisonment.
