A SUBMARINE LOST.
THE WRECK LOST. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, October 6. Divers find that they had located a rock in mistake for the sunken submarine, and dredging still continues to ascertain where she is. THE CAUSE OF THE DISASTER. London, October 6. Lieutenant Pulleyne is recovering, but is still unable to continue his story. Experts are of opinion that seaweed obscured the periscope and forced the boat to ascend, and that Pulleyne, coming on deck at the moment, saw the Amerika, and signalled the approach,, but too late. The collision probably exploded the air-cylinders, wrecking the interior, and killing the crew immediately. A FRUITLESS SEARCH. PULLEYNE'S SENSATIONAL EXPERIENCE. Received 7, 11.45 p.m. London, October 7. Four destroyers are engaged in sweeping operations for the lost submarine. So far their efforts have been without result. Operations will be continued tonight, i Lieutenant Pulleyne states that he was carried.to the bottom with the submarine, but a terrific rush of escaping air inflated his oilskins and carried him to the surface. He managed to wriggle out of the oilskins. Naval circles attribute the disaster.to suction.
