A POSSIBLE COMPROMISE. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, October 5. Lord MacDonnell states that a private meeting of moderate Conservatives and Irish landlords discussed Home Rule. It is rumored that they considered the possibility of a compromise. SIR E. CARSON'S OPINION. London, October 5. Sir Edward Carson, at Rottingdean, referring to the proposed prosecution of those signing the Ulster Covenant, said he would be the proper person to prosecute. If it was done, he would tell the Court that if it was a crime to strain every nerve to incite others to strain every nerve to preserve the people of Ireland in the right to which they were born, then he was guilty and they could do their worst.
ULSTER TO CONTRACT OUT. Received 7, 11.45 p.m. London, October 7. There are rumors that the Government is negotiating with Mr. Redmond to enable Ulster to contract out of Home Rule.
