There have been catalogued 112,400 bales, and 10C,380 bales havo been sold. WHEAT AND FLOUR. ' London, October <S. The wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,345,000 quarters, for the Continent 2,10'0,000 quarters. Atlantic shipments 492,000 quarters, Pacific 35,000 quarters. Total to Europe is 1,435,000 quarters, including Argentina 81,000 quarters, Russian 420,000 quarters, Danubian 202,000 quarters, Indian 115,000 quarters, Australasia 2000 quarters. Following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, October 6 (quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market-prices on spot): — Mutton.—The market is firm, with a .hardening tendency in anticipation of small arrivals; no immediate change in the market is expected. Canterbury 1 4y„d, North Island 4'/ s d Lamb.—The market is steady, with not much demand, but prices are firm. Canterbury 5%d, other than Canterbury 5y 2 d. r.sef—The market is sliulitly wealcer, with less demand. 'There is a large supply. New Zealand hinds 3%d, fores 3d. Butter.—The market is very firm for best quality, but quiet for second-class quality. Danish 121s, Siberian 110s, Australian 114s.
Cheese.—The market is quiet but steady. Canadian 655. The estimated Canadian stock in England at October 1 is 317,000 boxes. English Cheddar 735. Hemp.—The market is firm and prices continue to advance. It is reported that American buyers are operating for the rise in Manilla. Buyers, fearing an advance; are buying freely. Spot New Zealand, good fair grade £2O, fair £27 10s; fair current Manilla £29. January-March New Zealand good fair £29 10s, fair grade £2B; fair current Manilla £3O. The output from Manilla for the week was 26,000 bales. i Wool.—The market is firm at the advance. Current qoutations for Bradford tops: 36's (low crossbreds). Is 2d, .40's (low crossbreds) Is 2%d, 44's (medium crossbreds) Is 3y 2 d. 50's (halfbreds) Is 6%d, 56's (quarterbreds) Is 9y 4 d, . 50's (merinos) 2s 2V 2 d. -The River Plate shipments received during September, 1912, were—London, 49,084 carcases mutton,, 18,235 carcases lamb; Liverpool, 42,466 carcases mutton, 5034 carcases lamb; Cardiff, 7746 caucuses muton, 58 carcases lamb; Hull 8090 carcases mutton, 651 carcases lamb; Southampton, 642 carcases mutton, 880 carcases lamb; Plymouth, 500 carcases mutton, 500 carcases lamb; Newcastle, 8000 carcases mutton—total, 122,217 carcases mutton, 25,358 carcases lamb. In September, 1911, the figures were 261,878 carcases mutton, 100,241 lamb. FROZEN MEAT'. Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegram from their London house; dated 3rd instant:— Mutton and lamb—Market is very quiet and prices i nchanged. Beef—"Poor demand at unchanged prices, but stocks are heavy. GRAIN MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. and Reduced, have received the following cablegram fromj their London house under date October 2:— Wheat—We quote 40s 6d, c.i.f., Australian cargo. The market is firm but inactive owing to the political situation,' and the- outlook is uncertain. Oats—We quote Gartons 255, Sparrowbills 245. The market is fair.
