BOXING.

PROFESSIONAL HEAVY-WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Westport, Last Night. The professional boxing match for the heavy-weight championship of New Zealand took place at Millerton last night, between Bert Lowe, of Gisborne,- the challenger, and Jim Mitchell, of Millerton, the holder. The fight went the full fifteen rounds, and was won on points by Lowe, who held an advantage practically all the way, and narrowly missed outing his opponent in the fifth round, Mitchell being down for six seconds, and rising on his feet, only to fall over the ropes, the gong saving him in that round. Lowe split the knockle-bone of the second finger of his right hand. Mitchell made desperate but short-lived attempts to win on a knock-out in the fourteenth round.
