PETROLEUM.
OPERATIONS AT MOTUIIOA. The engineer.sent out from Glasgow' by the coiUractorij lor the erection of the refinery on the Taranaki (New Zsaland-) Oil Wells, Linrited's property at Moturoa, arrived, in New Plymouth last night. A temporary laboratory is being fitted up at the works at Moturoa by Air. Hardwick, the analytical chemist, who is conducting initial experiments with a view to <l<-t(. running the commercial products obtainable fronr the crude oil. A number of applications have been received by the company for samples of the refined products. A start has been made with the construction of the railway siding to connect with the site of the refinery. '
