At the wool sales ttoe;r>e was a large selection of New Zealand wool, principally slipcs, which were strongly competed for at the iliighest prices of the series. MATTHEWS, BENNETT & CO.'S r) < _ REPORT. Matthews, Bennett and Co. report that there was a good yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Springing heifers made £5 10s to £lO 15s, cows £5 to £7, forward cows £4 15s to £5 Is, store cows £2 10s to £4 10s, bulls £3 to £3 10s, .yearlings £2 12s 6d to £3. Paddock sales during the week: Springing lieifers £5 to £6 10s, store cows £3 10s, yearling heifers £3 10s, ewes and lambs 15s Gd to 22s Gd, ewe hoggets los, wether hoggets 13s Gd, mixed 13s Gd to 14s.
J OJIXSON VILLE, Abraham and Williams report:—At Johnsonville a good yarding of prime cattle came forward and sold well at late rates. Prime bullocks: £ll 5s to £ll 17s 6d, lighter £lO 7s 6d to £lO 17s Gd, vealers (extra quality) £2 5s 6d, others 27s 6d to 355, extra prime heavy wethers 295, prime heavy wethers 20s, prime wethers 24s to 255, extra "prime heavy ewes 24s Bd, prime ewes 22s 6d, prime lambs 17s Id to 17s 4d, lighter 16s to 10s 4d, light 13s 6d to 14s Bd.

One hundred and sixty-six fat" cattle were penned, and the demand (especially for cow beef) showed a dee»<i*d improvement, prices all round being firmer. The price for heef ranged froM 28s. Gd to 36s 6d per 1001b (according to-'quality). Steers realised from £8 10s; to £ll 10s, extra to £l4, heifers £7 7s 6d to £9 10s, extra to £l3 12s 6d, and cows £6 15s to £ll 17s 6d. 1 '■ '■
There was a fair entry of store cattle, lines of fifteen to eighteen-months sorts predominating. The majority were in fair condition, and. the' demand for all descriptions was brisk.''
