AUSTRALIA v. NEW YORK.
By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 3, 9.45 p.m. New York, October 3. Australia, in their second innings, have lost seven wickets for 285 runs, and declared their innings closed. New York scored 167 runs in their second innings.
GROUNDS QUESTION.
MEETING OF CLUBS,
A meeting of representatives of the local cricket clubs was held at the Town Hall last evening to consider the question of grounds to be used during tho coming season. The report and balance-sheet for the previous year were read and adopted, the latter showing cash in hand £2 9s 2d, but with a balance of liabilities over assets of £3 Ms.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. P. Nieholls; committee, Messrs. Lash, Gwillim, Bain, Avery and Napier.
After discussion it was decided to make application to the Sports Ground Committee for the use of the Recreation Grounds for the current season.
A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Whittle, Lash, Bain, and Greatbatch, was formed to consider the question of obtaining a new playing ground at New Plymouth, to be used in future seasons.
