The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club was favored with beautiful weather for the spring meeting, and there was a large attendance. The course was in fast going order. The totalisator handled £10,802, compared with £10,262 for the last spring meeting. The following are the details of the racing:— Tomona Hack Handicap Hurdle Race, of 100 sovs.; one mile and three-quar-ters.— Otatara, 0.2, 1; Sleacombe, 9.7, 2; Faunus, 10.7, 3. Bravest 10.10, Bandalero 10.2, Strathmoira 10.2, Golden Loop < 9.12, Master Stead 9.4, and Composed 9.3, also started. Won by two lengths. Time, 3min. 17sec. Maiden Hack Handicap, of 100 sovs.; seven furlongs. Hinemanu, 8.10, 1; Manakau, 9.0, 2; Kimbombi, 8.1, 3. Hawke's Bay Guineas, of 300 sovs.; one. mile.—Bon Ton, 8.10, 1; Haskayne, 8.5, 2; Sir Daniel, 8.10, 3. The only starters. A fine race. Won by the smallest of margins, Sir Daniel being six lengths away. Time, lmiii. 42 l-ssec. Hastings Stakes, of 250 sovs.; four furlongs—Tatterley, 8.0, 1; Merry Roe, 8.7, 2; Culture, 8.0, 3. Cotton Keel 8.5, Subduer 8.0, Lyrique 8.0, and Pursefiller 8.0, also started. Tatterley was badly left, but came through at the finish, and won by a neck. Time, 50sec. Spring Handicap, of 125 sovs.; one mile and a quarter.—Cork, 7.3, 1; Goldfinder, 8.4, 2; Routine, 7.3, 3. SPORTING DISQUALIFICATIONS,

Christchurch, Last Night.

The appeal of Timi Puru (owner of The Native) and C. Price (jockey) against the disqualification imposed by the Canterbury Jockey Club in connection with the New Zealand Grand National Hurdle Race will be heard in Wellington next Wednesday.

At a meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association yesterday the Hutt Valley Trotting Club forwarded a letter from James Troy, asking that the disqualification imposed on himself and his wife in 1907 should be removed. The Club wrote that it offered no objection to the request. It was decided to refuse the application.
