(By "Moturoa.") ■■■ Tiei ftttmtidJi of owners of trotting horses is drawn Lo the fact that nominations for all events to he decided at the Auckland Trotting Club's Spring meeting on October 115 and 19, close on Friday, October 4, at 9 a.m. with the Club's secretary, Mr. C, F. Mark, Good prizemoney is offered for all races, and no doubt Tarap.aki will be well represented at the meeting. Weights for the Waverley-Waitotara meeting, to be Jield on Labor Day, October 28th, are due to-morrow. There was a shortage of light-weight jockeys at Avondale last week. Fancy that, with the Tiny Town troupe in the Dominion, too!
Jockey E. Murtagh's face did not bear a handsome appearance when he went out on Silver Cluse to contest t'hc Gonville Hurdles on Thursday. He Avon all right, despite the fact that a few days earlier,in the week he suffered a broken nosQ and other injuries through a spill at Otaki.
The withdrawal of Canule leaves New Zeal'ainl without a representative in the AJ.C: Derby.
Te Wdharoa won both stick events at Avon'dale very easily, but the company was poor and times far from brilliant. With our best horses in 'Stralia hurdle races are xcry easy to win now, and a fair juniper is worth his weight in gold. . Bleriot justified his connection's confidence by easily gathering in the Avondale Cup and Guineas and her three-year-old career promises to be a bright one. In the Guineas she beat Prince Soult fairly and squarely, and the victory was full of merit. Horses canym? "No. 4" saddlecloth won three races at Wanganui on Saturday.
Particulars of Pnisnno's victory at Rosehill on the 21st tilt., show that the New Zen Lander carried lils 12st nibs to victory in the easiest possible fashion. John was sent, out first favourite anil Black Northern next. The latter fell at the first hurdle. The winner started nt a good l price. John was prominent for a mi.le and three-quartres. -and then faded out of the contest. Paisnno will pet a nice "poultice" for Randwiek en"•agementiS this month.
